If you haven’t heard all the excitement about the release of ‘The hunger games’ then you really need to get out more!  We have just popped on our shelf all 3 books in the trilogy.  Recently out on the big screen, The Hunger Games sees sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen step forward to take her sisters place in the games.  An annual event held in the ruins of a small town in North America where one boy and one girl participate in a fight to the death on live TV.  If Katniss is to win she will have to choose between survival and humanity and life and love.  This trilogy has been ousted as the biggest thing in the literacy world since the Twilight series.  Get it while it’s hot!

Her Story and His Story (also available) are wonderful little snapshots of New Zealand.  The photos and the stories stir lots of old memories and it is interesting to see just how much has changed over the years for the good, and sometimes not so good.  From Aunt Daisy to the Art of French Knitting or Earthen to Electric this book is a great slice of New Zealand.  So sit down open up and enjoy your piece.

This book is written in a way kids can understand.  The illustrations are clear and the book is written with basic facts and answers.  Divorce explains why divorce happens, shared custody, adjustment and guilt among answering numerous other questions children of divorce want to know.

New resources to the Library this week….

Plant a Kiss is a wonderful little pocket of joy to read to yourself and to read to children.  Little Miss plants a kiss and what results from this  is a wonderful story of love, kindness and giving. The illustrations are simple but beautiful with a gorgeous touch of bling!  This new book to our collection will definitely be one of my all time favourites.  Just beautiful……..

Anyone who followed David Bain after that tragic day 20 June 1994, will find this book captivating, remarkable and incredibly thought provoking.  Joe Karam has been a public advocate for David Bain since 1996.  Karam was named by The New Zealand Herald in 2007 and TV3 in 2009 as one of their New Zealanders of the year, and his assertion that the first Bain trial was a travesty was vindicated by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and David's subsequent acquittal.
